CONSULTING BIOGRAPHICAL RESUME

Objective:           To secure a position utilzing my skills and experiences in the 
                     Melbourne Florida area or which may be performed remotely.

Michael S. DeVries is a senior information technology consultant. He specializes in gathering and analyzing client business and technical requirements and developing innovative information solutions to improve business processes, productivity and quality. He is able to leverage a broad range of methodologies and techniques throughout the information technology services value chain. Mr. DeVries possesses recognized expertise in requirements gathering and modeling at industry, enterprise and application levels. He has acquired a broad based business and technical knowledge working with multiple clients within the retail industry. He also has experience working in the scientific, health care, communications, insurance, financial and utilities industries. Mr. DeVries is experienced in developing and implementing corporate technology directions, standards and methodologies for large information technology services companies.

Mr. DeVries founded and acted as a Principal for The Virtual Consulting Firm with primary business and management responsibilities for a growing global consulting firm consisting of remotely distributed consultants and business partners, providing a broad range of busines, management, information technology (IT) and computer consulting services for clients all over the world.

Mr. DeVries founded, launched and managed I-ShopTheWorld.com - a Global Online Retail Business. Designed and developed web site(s) and e-commerce systems. He was responsible for merchandising, business development, internet marketing, and the design, development and management of all information technology / systems.

Mr. DeVries participated in the Year 2000 (Y2K) engagements for a major theme park and entertainment company and a regional banking company, wherein he developed a Year 2000 Testing Strategy , participated in the Y2K test planning and tool selection process and acted in the role of Testing Specialist.

Mr. DeVries facilitated the joint application design (JAD) sessions for the development of an order processing system for a building supply brokerage company.

Mr. DeVries developed world-wide data standards for a large computer company, facilitating their implementation of the SAP software package.

Mr. DeVries introduced and mentored MIS staff in a structured methodology approach to application development for a fast growing specialty retail company. His participation included the development of a prototype employee tracking application and the joint application design of the applications comprising the retailer's information technology plan.

Mr. DeVries developed the system and user documentation, requirements and design specifications of a warehouse operations application for an electronics manufacturing and distribution company.

Mr. DeVries performed the roles of the technical lead, joint application design facilitator and lead analyst for the analysis and design of an automobile policy administration system for a interstate insurance company.

Mr. DeVries lead a technology assessment for a leading edge communications company. He also participated in the design and software selection for a billing and administration applications for this client. The application design utilizes an object oriented methodology

Mr. DeVries has consulted in the requirements gathering and modeling for a strategic contract and order entry application for a large retail consortium. He consulted with the project team to insure the quality of the business requirements and application models and designs.

Mr. DeVries led the requirements gathering, analysis and design of strategic applications for multiple department store retailers. The applications covered the majority of the merchandising and logistics business functions within the retail enterprise. The application development utilized joint requirements modeling (JRM), joint application design (JAD), rapid iterative system engineering techniques and integrated computer aided systems engineering (I-CASE) technologies.

Mr. DeVries participated in a strategic enterprise-level business and information technology planning and re-engineering effort for a large grocery retailer. The focus of the project was to develop the business and technical plans for the grocer to implement the principals of efficient consumer response (ECR). His participation included requirements gathering and modeling, business process re-engineering, project planning, redevelopment and reverse engineering.

Mr. DeVries has participated in the requirements gathering and modeling for the physician appointment scheduling and patient registration functions of an innovative computerized patient record application for a medical clinic. The application was prototyped and will be developed in an object-oriented environment.

Mr. DeVries managed an engagement performing batch processing flow and performance analysis to provide performance improvements for a regional bank.

Mr. DeVries has developed and implemented corporate analysis methodologies for a large information technology service provider. He has also been instrumental in implementing corporate metrics, change management, application development and project management methods and techniques on client accounts.

Mr. DeVries graduated with honors from Kalamazoo College with a bachelors degree in Computer Science and Physics. He has studied graduate level Physics at Michigan State University
